The Australian Plant Phenomics Network (APPN) is committed to making research data as open, accessible, and reusable as possible to support innovation and collaboration. By default, data generated through APPN facilities is made available for long-term FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) licence wherever possible, enabling broad use while ensuring proper attribution. The policy aims to balance open access with necessary protections for sensitive, private, or commercial information, while ensuring clear ownership, responsible data management, and transparent licensing.
