Dr Lynne McIntyre is passionate about Australian agriculture, excellent science, and R&D that makes a difference. After a degree in agricultural science and an honours degree majoring in genetics from the University of Sydney, she completed a PhD in molecular genetics at ANU and CSIRO researching the new field of DNA markers for more efficient plant breeding. She then moved to the US Midwest as a Professor of molecular genetics and established a lab focussing on DNA markers for assessing biodiversity, fingerprinting and cytogenetics in cereal crops.

Upon returning to Australia, Lynne joined the CSIRO and continued her focus on crop improvement, leading the development of DNA marker technology for sorghum and for sugarcane in Australia.

While continuing to maintain an active role in new technologies and their application, Lynne moved increasingly into leadership roles. For the last ten+ years of her tenure at CSIRO, she led a large crop improvement program for Australian food and beverage crops.

Lynne retired from CSIRO two years ago and continues to work for a more profitable and sustainable Australian agriculture industry, utilising her 30+ years of experience and expertise in strategy, impact, science and people leadership.
