Applications for the 2018 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Australian & New Zealand Fellowships are now open.

The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science initiative began in 1998 and since that time the L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) have strived to support and recognise accomplished women researchers, encourage more young women to enter the profession and to assist them as they progress their careers.

Globally the program has recognised more than 2250 women in 110 countries, honoured 94 International Laureates for excellence in science (including two women who went on to be awarded a Nobel Prize) and awarded over 2200 talented young female scientists to pursue their promising research projects.

In 2018, the program will recognise four Australian and one New Zealand Fellows. Applications can be submitted through the website – www.forwomeninscience.com.au under the “Apply” tab. Applicants within five years of completing their PhD (not including career breaks) are welcome from a variety of fields including life sciences, clinical and health sciences, material sciences, physical sciences, mathematics or engineering.

Applications will close at midnight Monday 12th March. Fellowships will be awarded at the For Women in Science ceremony in November 2018.
